A middle-aged man struggles personally and financially after the dearth of his wife while tending his small vineyard in California, Friends urge him to sell the vineyard and move on. Instead he accepts help from a young “Dreamer” fighting to bring his deported mother home from Mexico while navigating the racism that threatens his own security. As these men work the vines in the magical little vineyard, they form an unlikely friendship that challenges each others’ belief in himself, the purpose of life and what lies beyond it and that gives each other hope for the future. But that hope is threatened by others who see the future differently and a lucrative offer to buy the vineyard that puts their friendship and futures on the line. The hard choices these men make teach them that we are all connected, that life is not random and that what we do in this life profoundly affects not just ourselves but the world around us.
In a small California vineyard, under pre-dawn winter moonlight, George prunes dormant vines that will return to life in spring. But will he feel that renewal? Three months since the death of his wife, Clair believed there was magic in the vineyard but lost in grief, George believes only one thing - he must push on.

Sassone and producer Penny Styles have developed the schedule and budget for Sassone's four part dramatic series, “The Vineyard,” which deals with the heartbreak of loss and the mercilessness of the US’s broken immigration system. He has written eight original feature screenplays and is writing his first novel. He and his husband, Steven Turley, make wine at their small vineyard and winery in Monterey County.
Penny is a dynamic producer and line producer with a unique international perspective, having moved to the United States from the UK while simultaneously cultivating production contacts in Australia. Her creative talents are powerfully complemented by a strong financial foundation gained through her experience with The London Stock Exchange and NM Rothschild Bankers. This diverse background has fueled her successful career producing a wide array of award-winning film and television projects (resume available upon request), including a Telly Award™.
Based in California, Penny's significant work in film production also garnered special recognition, including a Movie Production Award from the California State Senate, commendation from the California Legislature Assembly, and a Special Congressional Award from the United States Congress for her community service. Further highlighting her valuable contributions, she received an award from the African American Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce for her work within their community through film.
Notably, 'The Protectors,' her compelling documentary exposing critical issues within Child Protective Services, brought to light heartbreaking injustices faced by vulnerable children through insider interviews and the voices of foster children themselves. This important work led to an invitation for its premiere screening before a symposium of Judges at the Hollywood Kodak Theatre by Christopher Wu, then Supervising Attorney for the Judicial Council of California. While it drew criticism from CPS, 'The Protectors' subsequently became part of a movement for change, entered as evidence in a Special Congressional Hearing in California.
While active as a Film & TV producer, Penny also dedicated time to academia, serving as an adjunct professor for eight years where she developed the program and taught highly popular classes on Film Production and Directing. Offering internships and practical hands-on learning within her productions. Her commitment to education extends to publishing 'What the Heck is a Grip!' a helpful movie terminology course book for film students.
Now residing in Nashville, Tennessee, Penny continues her work as a Producer and Line Producer, creatively and financially developing and executing numerous film and television projects. Demonstrating her commitment to the future of filmmaking, she is also currently studying and implementing the practical use of AI in film, further enhancing her innovative approach to production. Additionally, she is an active partner in the early development of a Film Studio & school in Georgia, where she will serve as Director of Production and Film Education.
Life has changed dramatically in the last several years. Politics divides us and while technology has given us great power it disconnect us from each other. "The Vineyard" is the story of the great power of nature to not only connect us to our world and each other but to what lies beyond this world and our participation in it. As George, the most disconnected of all, discovers when he opens his heart to this possibility, miracles are real.
